Joe Farrell
Director of Coaching Boys, Recreation Programs & Camps
Responsibilities: Development and growth of the Boys Travel Program, Recreational & United Camps
Joe Farrell has been a major influence in the growth and development of United for the past 5 years. His knowledge and experience will be invaluable in the continued success for United FC. Farrell, a native of Scotland, was a former youth professional in his home town Glasgow with Clydebank Football club. In Scotland he was a National development coach with the Scottish FA and Glasgow sports council where he worked and trained with some of the most qualified coaches in the national system such as Eric Black, Tommy Wilson and Craig Brown (National coach). In the States Joe was a two time MVP and top scorer with Wallace College in Alabama and with that attended the University of Alabama. Joe’s qualifications include USSF A, UEFA B, NCSAA Advanced National Diploma, Higher National Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development and a degree in Sport Science. Joe is also a VYSA Central District ODP Head Coach and coaches the USL Super 20’s for FC Fredericksburg Gunners where he successfully lead them to the USL national tournament in August 2008.
Director of Coaching Girls & Icebreaker Tournament Director
Responsibilities: Development and growth of the Girls Travel Program & Director of the Icebreaker Tournament
Played Division 1 soccer at Eastern Michigan University prior to joining the USL W-Leagues Hampton Roads Piranhas in 2003 (National championship year!), and 2005. In 2004, played for the Detroit Jaguars of the USL W-League. Coached for Virginia Rush in 2005-2006 and 2008-09. Served as the director of youth girls for Colorado Rush Pikes Peak from July 2006-July 2008. Currently holds the US Soccer "A" License, and work with the Southeastern District and State ODP program as a staff coach for the 1994 girls.
